A request from Bev Hurley about bank lending to businesswomen
Dear Enterprising Women,
As you may know, Vince Cable, the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills recently asked me to join his Entrepreneurs Forum. I was just checking my email whilst on holiday, and picked up a message to say that the topic of bank lending to women to start or grow a business is coming up on the agenda.
The Institute of Public Policy Research, IPPR, looked at this topic last year, and their report indicated that their research suggests is very likely that women are being discriminated against. Those on the Forum have been asked to comment if this is an issue in the female business community.
This gives you a fantastic opportunity to ensure your voices are heard directly at the highest level through completing this short survey, which aims to test the business themes in the IPPR report.
I’ve been asked to comment by 31st July, so please, do it now! Please also send this message to any businesswomen you know who has had experience of financing their business in the last three years. Because of the holidays I’ll keep gathering data until September, so that I can give a fuller report at the next Forum meeting in October.
Thank you for your time, and all best wishes
Bev
