Parent Friendly

I run the website www.parents-guide-to-plymouth.co.uk; this started life in 1983 as The Parents Guide to Plymouth book, the first edition of which I took into the maternity unit at Freedom Fields Hospital when my second baby was born.

The midwives were almost more interested in the book than the baby, prompting my daughter to assert recently that she has always been a marketing tool!

The website was launched ten years ago and last year was completely professionally updated. It currently attracts 3000+ unique monthly visitors and aims to offer a comprehensive information source to parents and carers living in, or visiting, the Plymouth area.

We also send out a fortnightly email newsletter of family-friendly events to more than 550 people in the area and offer very reasonable advertising rates on the website for local family-friendly businesses.

I was delighted and amazed to be included in the 2012 New Year Honours list, with the award of an MBE for "Services to Families".
