My business is making handmade cards and invitations for all occasions. I take orders (no order to big) and I also sell wedding/party/prom accessories and fashion jewellery. I also make my own Cross Stitch embrodieries and have a few for sale in my unit. My husband does paintings which I also sell.

I was born in Isleworth, Middlesex in 1953, brought up in Feltham, Middlesex. left school at 16 and started my working life as a P.A. Left that to bring up my girls, when they were old enough to leave alone I started work in a Residential Home for the elderly in the laundry, going on to be a carer. I was then a carer for 25 years for the elderly and for Adults with learning dissabilities in residential homes and after that continued being a carer for people of all ages who were suffering with cancer or recovering from illness such as strokes, or had just come out of hospital after an accident or operation and needed a little extra help.

Unfortunately I developed a knee problem that stopped me from being a carer as I would be at risk myself. I had always wanted to start my own business even as a child and follow in my dads footsteps, although he was a motor mechanic and I really was not interested in motors.

So I started at Outset Plymouth with the idea of continuing in care for the elderly doing domestic work etc., I was all ready to start my new career when I slipped down some steps while walking my dog, giving myself an ankle injury that is going to be with me for a long time, so I had to rethink, as I am not yet ready for retirement. I have a GCSE grade 3 in art, and have always loved doing Embroideries and making cards etc., and with the prompting from my family and friends that is what I decided to do.

I now have my own unit selling Hand made cards for all occasions, invitation cards, embroideries, my husbands paintings and I also sell wedding/party/proms accessories and fashion jewellery.
