Pantsmatters Community Interest Company

Four years ago I had womb cancer, returned to work quickly and didn't say a word about it all..until I realised that my colleagues at Cornwall College probably had no idea that they too could be at risk of cancer and wouldn't know what to look out for..so I began to speak about it..and haven't stopped since..

Sponsored swimming, events like Eden Rocks for Pants, raising money through charity shops in Falmouth where I live, leads me to my dream of having everyone recognise the Pants logo and talking about gynae and testicular, and anal and vulval cancer...because so many people are dying, of ignorance and embarassment...and just like breast cancer is now freely talked about, I want us all to talk about the front and back bottom bits without shame...only then will we stop people dying.

I aim to get everyone on the website www.pantsmatters.org.uk where all the information is - with great links to other sites as well.

I am so glad to be alive, and want to save as many people as I can from going through the cancer experience...it is no fun ! Sadly our young people can die of these cancers- a 14 year old of testicular cancer, a 22 year old of cancer of her vulva....we cannot just let this happen...please like pantscancers.

I am proud to be an ambassador for Cancer Research UK.

Jeannette Preston

I am a mother of two beautiful girls and now am blessed with a gorgous granddaughter of 2. My darling husband supports my work in so many ways even though so busy with his Iso Standards business.

I am a currently practising Registered Nurse and have been a Child Protection social worker, a lecturer in Health and Social Care at Cornwall College..and a barmaid, and local Methodist preacher..and a Counsellor, so a varied background which has meant I have just the right skills to drive Pants into the public domain, talk to groups and individuals about Pants, and support those surviving cancers.

Wow, the challenge of forming a Community Interest Company and now working on the Charity Status has been something special and terrifying all at the same time.

At each stage, the right person has turned up, as if by request, to help, and now I am looking for a famous patron......do you know anyone who would fit the bill? Some more Trustees and other volunteers would be so welcome....

We have two shops in Falmouth and another due soon-Posh Pants.

Please help me to stop these ghastly cancers going unrecognised....

thanks Jeannette
