A successful ERDF Convergence funded programme, which supports Cornish people wanting to set up their own businesses, is celebrating the graduation of its very first women-only business start up group in Hayle.
8 women from across the region have completed the free programme with enterprise advisors from the Outset Cornwall team and are now looking forward to starting up their own businesses with continued mentoring and one to one support.
Lesley Oates, from Wellessences, one of the successful Outset Cornwall graduates, says “The programme offered good, clear accessible information which was delivered in an informal atmosphere with lots of tea and biscuits, laughs and support.” Jayne Tarason from Flock Follies, another of the graduates feels the programme was pitched just right for her. “For the first time I have written a business plan, and I now feel focused and confident to make it all happen. The group allowed things to be ‘heart led’ when it needed to be, as opposed to ‘head lead’ all the time.”
Outset Cornwall’s Programme Director, Kate McEwen, says “We are delighted with the success of this women-only programme, in particular the level of peer support for each member of the group. We plan to start a second women-only business start up group and ask any ladies from across Cornwall who have a spark of an idea and would benefit from both expert advice and guidance from the Outset Team, and also some quality peer support, to come forward and contact the team.”
The Outset Cornwall programme welcomes enquiries from anyone in Cornwall who would like to find out more about the support available to develop and launch a business idea. Call now on 0800 91714 324, visit www.outsetcornwall.co.uk or email info@outsetcornwall.co.uk.
