With a competitive pound, there’s never been a better time for enterprising women and the businesses they run to start exporting – that's the message from East of England International (EEI) who help hundreds of businesses across the region explore and exploit their potential to expand into overseas markets.
EEI delivers the business support services of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), and ‘Passport to Export’ is one such programme which helps inexperienced exporters each step of the way, from assessing their capabilities to making the most of exporting opportunities, with financial support in the form of matched funding also available.
Paul Sharpe at EEI explains:
"As International Trade Advisors, my colleagues and I throughout the Eastern region are able to work with companies to help them win new business. In the current climate it is even more important that businesses make use of the support that is available."
"Passport to Export takes a business through three stages – audit and planning, strategy development and implementation. At each stage we can advise the business and can support them. One simple call to our Trade Team could make a real difference to your company."
Magdeline Pokar is Managing Director of ResearchSEA, based in Cambridge. Launched in 2005, ResearchSEA actively promotes news and expertise from Asian research institutions to international journalists and the global public. Magdeline explains,
"As an Asian scientist and ex-journalist based in the UK, I realised that research institutions in Asia find it difficult to reach international journalists and vice versa. ResearchSEA fills this gap by helping journalists reach experts and new research from Asia."
"As a small business, the Passport to Export scheme enabled us to tap into much larger resources provided by UKTI. The business advice and grants were a tremendous help, and UKTI officers at the British Embassy helped secure meetings with top research institutions. This is something we would not have been able to achieve without the Passport to Export scheme."
