The Lesbian Association of India

The L.A.I. is a charitable organisation working to support lesbian and bisexual women to run community centres, and carry out out-reach work.

We carry out research to create an on-line resource hub related to gender and sexuality in South Asia for individuals, groups or organisations.

The L.A.I. is involved in fund-raising activities to aid its support to projects in India and is always interested to speak to people who would like to know more about or support the organisation.

Molly Blackburn

Molly is now 22 and living in Cambridge, working on a voluntary basis as the director of the L.A.I.

For the last 4 years she has lived in Germany, Spain and India; travelled in Africa, Asia and Europe volunteering and working as she went.

In 2007 while studying Ayurveda (traditional medicine) in India Molly volunteered for an HIV/ Aids help line and became involved with an organisation carrying research into the way the healthcare services treated members of the L.G.B.T. community. From this voluntary work and friendships made in the city, the Lesbian Association of India was conceived and established.

Molly has since spent further time in India to establish the purpose and goals of the organisation as well as in Cambridge building the organisations reputation, volunteer base, supporters, research program and fund-raising capabilities.
