Mirrorpool Arts

I am an artist and craftswoman and I will be selling some of my work via local craft fairs where I will be able to meet potential customers face to face. I will be selling small items at these events so that they will be affordable to the general public.

My art is inspired by a love of nature, colour, and all the wonderful songs and music which 'lift the spirit'.

I believe in the power of art as an aid to healing, both in the creative process and in the finished product, which then goes forth with a life of it's own to inspire it's viewers. I have worked as an Art Therapist for 28 years so I have seen first hand the significance of art in helping to heal the 'soul'.

As I have been closely attuned to the psyche, my depth of interest in matters of a spiritual nature have always been obvious within my art, most of which depicts subjects described as 'otherworldly'. I do think of myself as a visionary artist and my works are full of 'light' and hidden symbolism, often having special significance to the people who eventually come to own them.

Next year, I plan to have some of my paintings printed as greeting cards and limited edition fine art prints.

I do not have a workshop at present so I am unable to use all my skills. I was trained in fine art with painting as my main area at Canterbury College of Art, and silversmithing by Lisa Hammilton & visiting jewellers, as well as stained glass by Kathy Shaw at City Lit.London.

I was a member of N.E.L.I.A.(North East London Independent Artists) for a number of years. I have had art work exhibited in London at St.Martin in the Fields as well the Changing Room Galleries and other venues within the greater London areas. I have had one of my pieces of silver jewellery displayed in the Victoria & Albert Museum.

In my working life I have been involved in various types of training and education placements for students both on fine art courses (artist in residencies, U.E.L.)and at post-graduate level for art therapy students. For a few years,I sat on a national committee for training and education in art therapy. I have featured in 2 training films and have had several small articles published.

I took early retirement from the NHS 2 years ago, but now I want to work part-time so I can travel and do interesting things in the future.
