Alex Polizzi shares her journey to TV stardom

With a record-breaking number of events happening in Cornwall Business Week this year, there was certainly something for everyone. Not least for our county’s female entrepreneurs who, for the first time, had the national Enterprising Women conference right on their doorstep.


Ahead for Heights

Following on from the extremely successful Ahead for Heights conference...

Up and coming women entrepreneurs are set to gain from superfast broadband with a new £1million challenge fund, allowing them to work effectively, grow their business online and access new markets.

female-led businesses now represent 20% of all SMEs in the UK, this is up from 12% in 2010, and the Government is driven to do more to help ensure women take advantage of the best broadband infrastructure in Europe.

The survey is part of a major investigation into the changing face of self-employment in Britain being carried out by the Resolution Foundation, which will be published next month.

According to Lorely Burt, the Government's newly appointed "women in enterprise" champion, female entrepreneurs are a “neglected niche”. The Liberal Democrat MP, will be helping female business owners understand how they can get help and support for both start-ups and growth companies.

The UK economy has grown by 0.8% in the first quarter of 2014, according to the recent figures. It marks the fifth successive period of Growth Domestic Product growth - the longest positive run since the financial crisis.
