A thriving Manchester business dedicated to supporting women in architecture in the North West has expanded to cover the Liverpool area. Award-winning architect Catherine Traynor is the latest franchisee to join the team at Pride Road. As Pride Road architect for Liverpool South, Catherine will be working with Merseyside residents in areas such as Mossley Hill, Woolton, Childwall and Aigburth.

Pride Road specialises in helping people to transform their homes by turning ideas into architectural plans. The firm’s unique approach includes a series of residential property workshops to guide clients through the architectural process, from concept through to planning applications and tendering for building work.

Pride Road’s Liverpool South Architect Catherine Traynor says: “Whether people are looking to update, extend or convert their property, my aim is to take the stress and confusion out of a design and build project. My experience and technical expertise helps to deliver an affordable dream home that suits the client, their family, their lifestyle and needs. Most importantly, from the offset we work to a budget that suits the client too.”

Catherine is a graduate of Liverpool John Moores University and a chartered architect with the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). She has built a successful career in both residential and healthcare architecture, winning several industry awards.

Pride Road is the brainchild of highly acclaimed RIBA chartered architect Lisa Raynes. Lisa is a passionate advocate of making the construction industry a better place for women and established the Pride Road franchise business in 2016.

Pride Road Director Lisa Raynes says: “I’m delighted that Catherine has taken on the Pride Road business franchise for Liverpool South. As a new franchisee she has successfully completed our in-house training programme, which is designed to make the journey towards running a business as easy as possible.”

After spending a decade working in large architectural practices, Lisa was forced to start her own business in 2009. As the economic recession struck the construction industry, around 50% of architects employed in UK practices lost their jobs.

Having established Raynes Architecture in the years that followed, Lisa was able to carve out a successful architectural career that also allowed her to balance family life as a mum of three. In 2016 she launched Pride Road as a franchise business to offer other women in architecture a family-friendly, ready-made business model.

Today Lisa is also an active council member of the RIBA, a national membership organisation with around 44,000 members, of which only 20% are women. Lisa uses her RIBA role as a platform to support women in architecture and is appearing as a guest speaker at a number of major construction industry conferences and events in 2017.
